Welcome dlnoman. The tree will most likely survive, but may not thrive until it gets more needles. Be careful with the water since it will not transpire very much due to the low amount of foliage. I would let the buds and candles growth this coming year unless you get one that is hyper strong - several inches long.
Thanks Marty. Do I need to pump up fertiliser. I am in Australia, we are in the middle of summer.
I would fertilize consistently. Don’t overdue since it will also not need as many nutrients due to the low foliage mass.
