Hinoki lowest leggy branche

I feel like Ryan might suggest the back as the front, or a little bit different angle. The root that comes along the front of the base cuts my eye from seeing the roots connection with the soil. And that will probably make it so the lowest branch is used. Maybe allowing for a more harmony design.

When i repot in spring i will flatten the root you see on the front and flip it forward so its flat to the surface. Would be difficult to switch fronts as i have opened up this end of the trunk to see… lets see… thanks so much for the answers! Great feedback!

Missing the secondary trunk option. I would go for that,

My prediction. Ryan

will want to do something about the two parallel branches with the RED X. He will want the apex to be less broad. He will not want to remove any branches because he will say needs more foliage to drive engine. He will push to left and suggest shortening on right. He will want blue branch situated more in back for depth He will raise lower branch as secondary trunk. Great thread. So interesting everyone’s comments

Check out yesterdays daily tip on the app. Its titled ā€œTo cut or jinā€ and has some great points that might help with deciding or at least give you a new way of analyzing your tree. It suits the didcusdion really well! What a coincedence!

Reiterations are coming!

I’m excited to see what happens with this tree. I like the lowest branch in terms of overall shape of the tree but I do get why people are saying remove. It seems it should be pulled down further to match the other branches but it would be too low.

I love the slanting style on Hinoki when it is pulled off well!
Hoping to develop one of mine like this tree so thank you for the inspiration.

Can’t lie im a little confused about how to Enter trees in the Q&A… and let me just say that navigating this website isn’t the most intuitive experience for me to grasp easily. Maybe im just getting old hehehehe…

What were Ryan’s suggestions?

Keep the branch as its a unique point on the tree… trying to incorporate it like the above branches coming down. its in the Q&A.

Thanks! I am not a pro member so I can’t access the Q and A. It’s a beautiful tree with a ton of potential. I hope you keep us up to date on its progress!
