First Yamadori - Ashe Juniper and Texas Persimmon

Collected my first Yamadori a month ago in central Texas.
1 Texas Persimmon - am excited about this one! multi-trunk lots of movement and some deadwood. Put it in a box with native soil and pumice. Seems to be doing well so far, no leaf drop. Have it in dappled shade. We’ve been getting a lot of rain lately in Houston and am planning to let it recover for 1 year. Will likely change angle when it is ready for styling. Planted it in box at same angle it was growing - moving toward light from under a bigger tree.
2 Ashe Juniper and have it in native soil. Seems to be doing ok, new growth but am worried about this one because the rain is making soil really wet and dense and does not drain well. I have started moving it under the porch when it rains and then back into sun on dry days. Wondering if I should build a box and put it in pumice and some native soil. Don’t want to disturbe roots too much with heat coming soon. Have read and heard Ashe juniper are low success rate when collected.
Any advice or comments on my choices would be appreciated. Even thoughts on how to build primary structure when they are recovered and ready for work.
