I have a 52yr old maple that was starting to bud in early spring. unfortunately the sudden change of weather caused the buds do die/freeze. The tree still seems to be alive since it’s green when I scratch the bark. Is there anyway to save this maple? Or is there a way I can encourage new buds? Should I cut off the old ones ?
I would do nothing except to keep the tree watered as necessary, but don’t over water. If the tree has enough strength it will put out new buds.
