Deodar Cedar Air Layering

Hey all,

I have a deodar cedar that I have been training as bonsai for about 2 years. The tree has great potential however the nebari is very lacking. (Came from nursery stock)

Is Deodar cedar a species that is capable or air layering? And if so, would ring bark, tourniquet method, or both lead to a more probable success? I have layered a few deciduous trees, never a conifer. Thanks for any input you may have!

I do know that some conifers do air layer, but they take a lot longer than deciduous because they move their resources at a much slower rate.
I have heard a year or more for a conifer air layer. :evergreen_tree::metal:t2::grinning:
