Bald cypress cuttings

I’m going to be removing the lower branches from my bald cypress. I figured I would try and root the cuttings, but wanted the wisdom of some of you on how and when I can do this.

Interesting topic I just planted some seeds myself.

Those appear to be recently emerged, if you know you’re not going to use them in your design, they are considered soft wood cuttings. Gently remove them, and stick in potting soil in a container that is in a water tray. Place in a shaded area, with high humidity. Cross your fingers- some may take.

I would say… most of the BC cuttings I try to root grow. At least two nodes in the soil. If you do a older hardwood, try to tear off a small heal from the parent tree. Rooting hormone. Moister soil type. Trim the growing tips. If you’re serious, make a tent out of a drycleaner bag…
I have several 2 yo hard wood cuttings …
