This was a Costco Christmas tree reject a few years back. I’m quite amazed how it has came along.
Yes. Twice, cheep. First time, post Xmas, I put it outside, 25F. Died.
Second time, did not like the next summer heat, 95F.
Pinus pinea. I S P, or Umbrella pine. I loved the young tree growth habit. Tight short needles and short internides. Have NOT seen them since.
Bought a couple of cupress type xmas trees. One is a 15 foot yard tree. Other is a 16 inch bonsai. Dont like either. Upright growth habit, frond needle structure.

It’s about the journey, not the destination… dead tree or not!
Bonsai On!

Yes it’s a costal Mediterranean tree so no freezing. Should be able to take the heat this one saw 105 and didn’t blink. Also everyone loves the immature grows cause it so small but that’s juvenile growth that said I’ve never had a needle longer than 3" . People juve it a bad rap but it’s just that they don’t know how to work one of them yet. Rocky mountain juniper had the same trouble once not long ago.
I have two, very young ones I bought last year for £1 each. I am trying to mount them to a rock so they got bare rooted last spring. They sulked for a bit and the started to grow. They have been out in -9c (15f) here but usually just overnight with positive daytime temperature and I usually keep them in the centre of a conifer huddle!
I bought 12 small ones after Christmas 2023 for $4 each. Growing them for a forest planting.
Nice post some pictures when you do that
That’s a nice looking stone pine. Mine is on the ugly bus It tipped over in the wind and this is how it ended up back in the pot. I still haven’t figured out what to do with it or if I even like it. But for $5 bucks last Christmas I figured why not
Keep at it they have a unique interest in that they are billowy
