Any advice for Sage Brush?

I’ve heard they like a more alkaline soil and collecting them is like juniper, with lots of fine roots and a tap root so spring, when it’s wet, is best to collect when they have lots of fine roots.

Would appreciate any advice anyone has.

I would only be guessing…
Killed a collected sage many years ago. Potting soil, probably too wet. My guess is take local soil conditions into account. Desert, alkaline, well draining.

One thing, watch out for ticks. They have an affinity for oldgrowth sage … I speak of this from ‘first hand’ experience. Nasty buggers when they find that soft spot…
