Two interesting Yamadori

I have a chance to possibly pick up a unique western hemlock and shore pine and was wondering everyone’s thoughts on the two. The hemlock is a genetic oddball with curly and short needles. It was grown from seed within a forest seedling nursery. The shore pine was collected from Vancouver island and is 20” tall x 36” wide.

Anton has been selling trees at the PNW convention in Olympia 2016 and the Portland Bonsai Rendevous in September:wink:.

Who needs kakadama when we have unlimited supplies of pumice here in the NW:wink:?

I love the oddball hemlock! :grinning:

Closeup of the hemlock leaves!

Unfortunately, the hemlock didn’t survive the winter before I could pick it up from the collector. The odd shore pine did survive and was repotted last spring. It’s probably about 50 years old.

Too bad about that hemlock, it looked pretty cool. That shore pine is great.
