Hello to everyone! Can the tourniquet technique be applied to an Elongating species tree? In particular to Picea Glauca. On the web I found documentations/video/examples often with maples but nothing with Elongating species. Thank you.
I do a lot of propagation and to the best of my knowledge, air layering just really doesn’t work reliably. While there is a chance it can be done, I’ve never heard of it. I do know that they graft this species, I suggest researching that to see if you can learn anything.
Thank you SCBonsaiGrower, that’s just what I was afraid of.
I airlayered a couple of blue atlas cedars. One put out a single long circling root that did not have enough to keep the top alive after separation (at 2 years). I did not use the tourniquet method.
