Japanese Quince Urban Yamadori best time for collection

Hi, greetings from the UK, I hope you have had a great Xmas. My first post in the forum.

I have been fortunate in being offered a large Japanese Quince for collection from a local garden as they want to remove it. I happily accepted.

I remembered Ryan mentioned in one of the live streams repotting Japanese Quince in the Autumn due to root knot nematodes being a problem in the spring.

It has been very warm here in the UK so far this winter hardly a frost to be seen so far although colder this week. There is already flowers starting to swell on the tree.

My question is should I go ahead with normal practise and collect late February, or should I wait until Autumn following repotting guidance. I may not be able to wait until Autumn to collect the tree so what would the risks be of collecting late winter?

Thanks for any advice and Happy New year!!

Stephen
