Does anyone have any experience with these maples? In years past partial defoliation has never worked for me probably because I never reduced enough foliar mass. This year I went further and I’m getting a second flush however it’s not pushing from the remaining leaves. It’s pushing the second flush from the base of branches almost like a spruce. Any experience on this species would be greatly appreciated, it has been one of my more difficult species to figure out.
