Is does this look normal to you?
I started seeing some distortion on a few tips of this itoigawa approach graft I did last summer.
This spring I separated the graft from the roots, otherwise it seems healthy, no browning seems to be growing.
Should I be concerned?

I would not be concerned.
It could be the growth opening (juvenile growth) from stress. Just let it grow.

Look likely to be flowers to me. Not an issue at all.
