Inarch grafting

I just saw a video about this technique and was wondering if it could help in shortening a tree that doesn’t respond to air layering, such as a pine.

I did a couple of inarch grafts on a Scots pine to reduce the length of branches. It took about 2 years from them to take well enough to be cut free. They were structurally weak for several years, but have allowed the development of a couple of nice branches.

Okay, thanks, Marty. I may give it a try.

Another option would be to graft red pine shoots onto JBP stock - not sure what would be the best way to go (red pine is the tree in question).
