Hi guys,
Can you help me please to identify this pine? New needles are so soft. My plant ID app can’t recognize it. And Google gives me strange answer.

This looks like a dwarf Pinus Sylvestris or Scotts pine ‘Green Penguin’ They have long and short needles.

It currently resembles a Scotts pine. All I can see is it is a 2 needle pine.
20 questions…
Where did it come from? Collected or nursery? Where are you, central Europe? (Looks like 2 needle?) Single flush or double flush? Sheeths on new bud extensions? The soil appears to be a bonsai mix?
Put on a pair of gloves and clean out ALL dead needles, clean up the trunk dietrous. Then pluck ALL 3 year old needles and half of the 2 year old needles. Then post another photo. Include a close-up of the back of one needle pair.

Hi Lynn, Kurt
You are right! I double checked and couldn’t find any proper photos about green penguin before, but I found it now (finally). I can’t express how thankful I am now, as it was quite a struggle to identify this tree.
Kurt: The tree is from nursery ( unfortunatelly they didn’t have any name plate on it) as it was a field grown tree. I live in Slovakia(central europe). Soil is just pumice for now, as I always put pines to pumice for the first year or two after digging. I did no cleaning at all. I always leave the trees untouched for at least one season. If they show healthy growth then I start cleaning and so on.
